Speaker Meetings

On the first Wednesday of every month we will invite outside speakers to talk on a wide variety of topics ranging from local history and international adventure, to interesting hobbies and expertise. Talks will normally be held in Withnell Fold Sports and Social Club and will start at 10-30am unless otherwise stated. Entry is £2 and includes refreshments. All West Pennine Villages u3a members are welcome.

Some events may take place in venues with limited parking. If you are a Blue Badge holder and plan to attend an event or take part in an activity, please contact us and we will endeavour to reserve a car parking space for you.

5th June 2024

Julie Whitworth of Chorley Advanced Motorists will speak on the advantages of taking an advanced motorists course.

The presentation itself is a fairly inter-active one as she likes to find out what people think of the bad driving habits we observe generally when driving around.  She also give a few statistics on KSI (killed or seriously injured) figures and relates these to the area in which we live (geographically).  She welcomes people asking her questions so you are encouraged to do this; hopefully she will be able to answer them all.

Julie is not requesting a speaker fee but there will be a collection towards the work of Chorley Advanced Motorists so please bring cash with you if you wish to donate.

The event will take place at Withnell Fold Sports & Social Club, PR6 8BA commencing at 10-30am as usual. Entry is £2 including refreshments which can be paid using the u3a card reader or with cash.

Let me know if you need a disabled car space reserving and don’t forget there is level access to the Clubhouse at the rear if needed. If you prefer to park on the outfield of the cricket field rather than the lane this is, at the time of writing, accessible fo .

We hope to see you there.
