Attendance from the general membership was good and the meeting declared quorate
- Approval of the Minutes of the previous AGM [April 2024]
These had been available online prior to the meeting and were approved by those present.
- Approval of Trustee report- This also had been made available online and were approved after some explanation from the Chair. Points made included:-
- Continued endeavour to maintain the ‘friendly and welcoming’ atmosphere thus far fostered in spite of the currently very healthy membership numbers.
- New members have been consulted and ideas sought-this will be repeated.
- There is a strong male membership -unusual in most u3as
- There is a wide range of interest groups-thanks to the Groups co-ordinator and an appeal for new group ideas to the audience
- Thanks were offered to the Web editor, Treasurer, Secretary, and other committee members with specific roles with an appeal for new volunteers since terms of office are coming to an end. [many of the Cluster \group are experiencing a similar problem]
- Drop-ins are less well attended than Speaker Meetings, but still a valuable contact point for members.
- Approval of Trustee Accounts-(pre-circulated) -These were approved after some brief explanation from the Treasurer.
- Costs match income with any surplus going back to the membership e.g. in the form of events such as refreshments at events, free Drop ins, equipment for groups.
- This surplus is generated through interest on the deposit account and HMRC Gift Aid. Members were encouraged to declare the latter.
- Reserves are healthy, though currently low owing to subscription to National u3a, insurance etc.
- Election of Officers:-
- Chair- Ann Furlong
- Vice Chair-Geoff Tittensor
- Treasurer- Paul Brooking
- Secretary-Norma Tittensor
The above officers were all duly re-elected
- Election of committee Members
The remainder of the committee were also re-elected save one member who had resigned.
The chair closed the meeting with thanks to those present.
